In Arlington County there are locally-designated historic districts, which provide the greatest protection for our historic resources. There are also National Register of Historic Places listings, historic easements and historical markers. At their February 28 meeting, the Arlington County Board approved the redevelopment of the Central United Methodist Church property in Ballston. The mixed use building will include the a new church, daycare and 119 apartments, of which 48 will be affordable to households with income at 40%-60% of the area median income.
