Arlington’s only single family home neighborhood with a local historic district designation, Maywood, has had overlay protection since 1990. At the time the district was established, the County also adopted the Maywood Design Guidelines. The guidelines had been updated in 2005 and in 2011. At their February 28 meeting, the Arlington County Board approved the redevelopment of the Central United Methodist Church property in Ballston.
