Over 1,750 homes GONE!

Over the last twelve years, 1,763 single family homes have been demolished in Arlington County. This is just over 6% of the total number of single family homes in the County. These numbers only account for complete demolitions and do not include major gutting of homes or major additions which are also dramatically changing the character of our single family home neighborhoods. July was pretty slow with tear downs. A total of six permits were applied for this month and all were in North Arlington. This June may have been the slowest month for demolitions permits since we began tracking them in 2013. A total of four permits were applied for this month. A total of 9 permits were applied for in 2019, June 2018 was 17 permits, June 2017 was 20; June 2016 was 12; June 2015 was 29; and, June 2014 was 44. Two projects were speculative developments and one property, 1311 North Highland, sold for $1.25 million in January of this year….
