At their February 28 meeting, the Arlington County Board approved the redevelopment of the Central United Methodist Church property in Ballston. The mixed use building will include the a new church, daycare and 119 apartments, of which 48 will be affordable to households with income at 40%-60% of the area median income. One of the remaining Tiffany stained glass windows, “Christ in Blessing” from the Abbey Mausoleum will be restored and installed to face the Ball Family Burial Ground. Portions of the original Ball Family Burial Ground were also designated a Local Historic District as part of the process.
