August recorded a total of twenty demolition permits applications in Arlington County. Nineteen are for single family homes and one is for a commercial property. The commercial property was purchased by Arlington County for $3.4 million and will be demolished. Of the homes, three are in South Arlington. It is remarkable to note that seven of the homes were sold recently for over $1million.
Seven homes are in National Register Historic Districts and would be eligible for tax incentives if they had been preserved and or upgraded. It is extremely rare to see a tear down in the Arlington Forest neighborhood.
