Upcoming Meetings:
School Board & Stratford

The Arlington County School Board will hold two meetings on the historic district designation of Stratford Junior High School in August. HALRB recommended designation at their June 2015 Public Hearing. No schedule is in place yet for action on this designation by the School Board or County Board.

The first meeting is a a “Work Session” on the Stratford construction project. It will be August 11th at 7:00 PM in Room 101 at the Education Center, 1426 North Quincy Street. APS staff will give the school board an update on the various design considerations (costs, transportation, environment, historic, etc). Since this is a “work session” public comment is at the discretion of the board.

The second meeting, two days later, is a public hearing and includes an “Information Item” on the Stratford historic district designation. The hearing begins at 7:00 PM in Room 101 at the Education Center, 1426 North Quincy Street. The HALRB recommendation will be presented to the School Board and discussed, however no formal action is expected at this time. This is the meeting to attend and voice your opinion on the historic designation. If you are unable attend, please write to the School Board (school.board@apsva.us).
