In the Third Quarter of 2024, a total of 42 demolition permits were applied for in Arlington County. All were for single family homes.
– 83% of the homes are in North Arlington;
– 70% are speculative developments;
– 21% are on land that sold for over $1,000,000
– 33% are in National Register Historic Districts; and,
These numbers are similar to both Second Quarter 2024 and Third Quarter of 2023.

These National Register districts provide some tax benefits to owners but do not offer any protection of the houses from demolition. Loses in National Register Historic Districts Include:
