For the last month of the year there were applications for 13 demolition permits. Eleven are for single family homes. One is for a major site redevelopment in Rosslyn and one is for a school. Only two of the homes are located in South Arlington with the remainder in North Arlington. Four of the homes were purchased for over $1 million, only to be torn down.

Four of the homes are located in National Register Historic Districts. The designation does provide an opportunity for tax credits for certain types of work done on the homes. However, these districts provide no protection for the homes. These include:

1111 18th Street South in the Aurora Highlands National Register Historic District
