In the last 14 years, almost 2100 single family homes have been demolished in Arlington. 2022, with 174 demolition, ranks as the 4th highest total county since 2009 (when Preservation Arlington began tracking demolitions). For the last month of the year there were applications for 13 demolition permits. Eleven are for single family homes. One is for a major site redevelopment in Rosslyn and one is for a school. Only two of the homes are located in South Arlington with the remainder in North Arlington. Four of the homes were purchased for over $1 million, only to be torn down.
