Welcome to Preservation Arlington!

If you’re reading this, chances are you care about what’s happening all around you in Arlington. You like the eclectic neighborhoods, the pedestrian-friendly commercial areas, the Metro transit corridors, the local bars and restaurants, and the trails and parks. You’re intrigued by the unexpected history you find here–from famous places like the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington Cemetery to that quirky 1950s shopping center with the great deli, from that old farmhouse on the hill to the pocket park near your house with the historical marker. We’re here because we care about all those places too.

Preservation Arlington is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of Arlington’s distinct architectural heritage. Through education and advocacy, Preservation Arlington brings together people and organizations to influence the future of Arlington’s historic buildings, landscapes and communities. Preservation Arlington was originally founded in 1989 as the Arlington Heritage Alliance.

This blog will be updated regularly to include all the latest news and developments regarding Arlington’s history and heritage.
