September saw only nine demolition permits for single family homes. September and March are the lowest numbers this year .. each with nine homes. Three homes demolished in National Register Historic Districts and three homes sold for over $1 million only to be demolished.

There were two properties which sold that were on multiple lots. In the 2200 block of North Buchanan Street, a house which has been operating as a medical building sold with the two adjacent lots for $2.275 million. A more interesting transaction is 4582 26th Street North where a single-family (original owner) home sat on a 70,000 sf lot in R-10/R-8 which would have allowed for 7 to 8 new homes. Instead the estate of the owner gave a 40,000 sf lot to Arlington County and a 14,000 sf lot to the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust. The remaining 16,000 sf lot, which contained the original house, was sold to a developer for $925,000. The land bequeathed to the County is already being programmed for gardens and other natural uses.

Only three homes on the demolition list are located in National Register Historic Districts. It appears that this might be the first tear down in Claremont in a number of years. A collection of Lustron homes were located in Claremont but were demolished a number of years ago. It is important to note that this might be the first time no houses were slated for demolition in any of the neighborhoods of the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor. These National Register districts provide some tax benefits to owners but do not offer an protection of the houses from demolition. The houses include:
