In February a total of 13 demolition permits were applied for in Arlington County. All but one are for single family homes. Two of the homes are in South Arlington. Half of the demolitions are speculative projects. And, one-third of the homes sold for over $1 million only to be torn down. The commercial property being demolished is a first-generation Rosslyn office building and is part of a major redevelopment.

Only one home is located in a National Register Historic District. The designation does provide an opportunity for tax credits for certain types of work done on the homes. However, these districts provide no protection for the homes. It is:
