In November a total of 12 demolition permits were applied for and all were for single family homes. Of the homes, 10 were in North Arlington, 7 were in speculative tear downs by developers, two sold for over $1 million only to be demolished, and, two were located in National Register Historic Districts.

These National Register districts provide some tax benefits to owners but do not offer any protection of the houses from demolition. It is very unusual to see a tear down in Arlington Forest, but this month it happened. The two homes on the demolition list that are located in National Register Historic Districts, include:

236 North Greenbrier Street in the Arlington Forest National Register Historic District
4427 19th Road North in the Waverly Hills National Register Historic District
