October saw only nine demolition permits for single family homes. Joining September and March as the lowest numbers this year .. each with nine homes. Four of the homes demolished were in National Register Historic Districts and three homes sold for over $1 million only to be demolished. One house, in Waverly Hills, was bought by Arlington County to mitigate flood issues with future stormwater management tools.

These National Register districts provide some tax benefits to owners but do not offer an protection of the houses from demolition. The four homes on the demolition list that are located in National Register Historic Districts, include:
