LOST: JULY 2023
July was one of the largest collections of houses having sold for over $1 million to be demolished AND the highest percentages of tear downs being speculative in nature. 47% of the homes sold for over $1 million and 60% of the homes are being torn down by speculative development. All but one of the homes are in North Arlington
A total of four of the properties were located in National Register Historic Districts. These districts provide some tax benefits to owners but do not offer an protection of the houses from demolition. It is interesting to note that these districts are “not the usual victims neighborhoods” of the R-B Corridor. The houses include:
224 North Fillmore Street in the Lyon Park National Register Historic District
912 North Cleveland Street in the Lyon Park National Register Historic District
3413 20th Street North in the Cherrydale National Register Historic District
821 19th Street South in the Aurora Highlands National Register Historic District
