LOST: May 2023
In May a total of thirteen demolitions permits were applied for in Arlington County. All were for single family homes with nine of them are in north Arlington and four in south Arlington. Just over half of the demolitions are speculative projects. The million dollar price tag for a tear down was on only one home with several properties just under $1 million and while one more home sold for over $1 million it is on multiple lots.
A total of four of the properties were located in National Register Historic Districts. These districts provide some tax benefits to owners but do not offer an protection of the houses from demolition. The houses include:

5809 4th Street South in the Glencarlyn National Register Historic District
900 17th Street South in the Aurora Highlands National Register Historic District
