Over 1,750 homes GONE!

Over the last twelve years, 1,763 single family homes have been demolished in Arlington County. This is just over 6% of the total number of single family homes in the County. These numbers only account for complete demolitions and do not include major gutting of homes or major additions which are also dramatically changing the character of our single family home neighborhoods. In December there were a total of twenty-one demolition permits applied for in Arlington County. One was for a commercial property in National Landing and one for a County building to make way for a new park. The remaining were nineteen were single family homes. On January 12 “DEMO SFD” (Single Family Dwelling) is in the description field of a LDA (Land Disturbing Activity) Permit filed with Arlington County for 6407 Wilson Boulevard. This follows the December 2 application for a “Cap Off Sewer” which was approved on December 7. This LDA Permit is the next step towards demolition of the Febrey-Lothrop home.
