The October meeting of the HALRB (Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board) will begin at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 17. The Agenda includes:

COA Consent Agenda for:

  • 301 North Glebe Road, a request to replace the existing signage, in the Buckingham Village Historic District.
  • 2911 23rd Street North, a request to install a skylight or center-pivot roof window on the rear slope of the roof, remove and install a new vent, and install a/c heat pumps on the side of the property, in the Maywood Historic District.
  • 2314 North Kenmore Street, a request to amend the COA to change the size of the patio, extend the existing driveway, alter the orientation of the rear stair to the patio, and installation of an outdoor fireplace,

Discussion Agenda for:

  • 2330 North Jackson Street, a request to amend CoA 18-04 for the replacement of the existing siding, in the Maywood Historic District.

Administrative COAs:

  • 2213 North Kenmore Street, a request to remove a silver maple tree, in the Maywood Historic District.
  • 3421 21st Avenue North, a to remove a 32-inch and a 40-inch (dbh) white oak trees, in the Maywood Historic District.
  • 2330 North Jackson Street, a request to install an air conditioning heat pump in the rear yard, in the Maywood Historic District

The Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board (HALRB) advises the County Board on historic preservation matters. The HALRB nominates properties for local and national designation and also reviews plans for exterior alterations, demolition and new construction in locally designated Arlington historic districts through a Certificate of Appropriate (CoA) process.

Citizens and others interested in these topics are encouraged to attend and speak during the public hearing process for each item.
