Upcoming Hearing:
Robert Ball Cemetery
Disinternment

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7:00 pm to hear public comments on the request to remove the remains of those buried in the Robert Ball Cemetery in Ballston. The cemetery is part of the Central United Methodist Church, located at Fairfax Drive and North Stafford Street. A proposal to develop the property has been submitted to Arlington County to build a multi-use subsidized housing project. The church and cemetery would be demolished while it is proposed that the church functions will be incorporated into the new project.

The hearing is not on the proposed siteplan but on the request to study and remove grave markers and any human remains. There are six marked graves and it is possible that there are at least three unmarked graves. All are members of the Ball family, the namesake of Ballston, formerly Balls Crossroads.

If you are unable to attend, comments should be addressed to the company handling the study and work:
